Lined Brake Shoes Built for Commercial Duty

Fraser Gauge lined brake shoes are manufactured to OEM friction specifications for S-Cam drum brake systems on transit buses, motor coaches, school buses, and Class 6–8 heavy-duty trucks. Every shoe is bonded or riveted with a copper-free friction formulation that meets Better Brake Law Phase 1 and Phase 2 requirements, making them compliant for fleet operations in California, Washington State, and all 50 states. Complete service kits combine lined shoes with matching hardware, return springs, and anchor pins — one part number, one order, one installation.

Installation Notes

Before Installation
  • • Measure drum diameter — replace if worn beyond discard limit
  • • Inspect and replace anchor pins and bushings if worn
  • • Clean all contact surfaces — remove rust, scale, and old lining debris
  • • Verify return spring tension — replace if fatigued
During & After Installation
  • • Apply brake shoe grease to anchor pin contact points only — keep friction surface dry
  • • Adjust brake slack adjuster to achieve correct pushrod travel
  • • Perform 10–15 moderate stops from 30 mph to bed in friction material
  • • Re-inspect brake adjustment after bed-in procedure
